Statement

London-based introspective artist Irene Giannettino started to develop her interest in art and ways of expression from a young age.

Irene has been refining her art skills since high school in Italy, and her artistic journey includes the study of a variety of subjects and techniques which contributed to the development of an eclectic style and inquisitive thinking.

Curiosity and fascination with the physical quality of the materials are at the centre of Irene’s practice. You will see it in her cut paintings, where she conveys the idea of the revelation of the meaning inside, and in her 3d work where she gets fascinated by the shape of found objects, the malleability of acrylic colours, and the leftovers of previous artworks.

Irene takes inspiration from from personal experiences, books, the news, or anything that piques her interest, the goal is to spark curiosity, to stimulate the viewers' memories and the emotions linked to them, she wants the viewers to question the significance of what they see and to realise that there can be a deeper meaning beneath the surface.
